Q. What is MoneyExchange?

A. MoneyExchange is an easy and reliable way to send and receive money online between accountholders. It's a great way to exchange money with friends, colleagues, or online sellers. Share restaurant, travel or household expenses. It's easy, reliable and secure.

Q. How does MoneyExchange work?

A. To use MoneyExchange, the first thing you need to do is sign up for a MoneyExchange account. When you sign up, you will establish a stored value account with First Bank & Trust, Brookings, South Dakota (Member FDIC), which is also referred to as your MoneyExchange account. With your MoneyExchange account, you can send funds to and receive funds from other MoneyExchange accountholders.

Linking your MoneyExchange account directly to your existing bank (checking or deposit) account will allow you to transfer money to your MoneyExchange account electronically (i.e. Add Money) or withdraw funds electronically to your bank account. When you provide us with your bank account information, we will verify your authority and access to the account you identify by using the Account Verification Services, which is offered in connection with Yodlee, Inc.  It is not a requirement however, to link your MoneyExchange account to your bank account to receive funds from other MoneyExchange accountholders, request funds from others, or withdraw funds from your account by check.

Q. Why should I use MoneyExchange?

A. With MoneyExchange you can securely send money to other accountholders with just a few clicks of the mouse. MoneyExchange helps you repay others for covering your restaurant, travel, or household expenses when you don't have cash handy:

  • You're dining with a friend and you realize you're short on cash. No worries. If your friend can pick up the tab, all you have to do is simply send them your portion of the bill through MoneyExchange. It's easy and you won't have to stop at an ATM, make change, or write a check.
  • If you have roommates, you know what a hassle paying monthly bills can be. MoneyExchange makes it easy to share expenses without writing checks, withdrawing cash, or making a trip to the bank. One roommate can pay the bills and the others can send their portions through MoneyExchange. It's one less thing to worry about.
  • Traveling with friends and you realize you're out of cash? Rest easy. If a friend can spot you a few bucks, simply pay him/her back using MoneyExchange.
  • Looking for an easy way to collect money from online buyers? MoneyExchange is a safe and secure way to receive payments from online buyers into your bank account.

II. Security and Privacy

Q. I am concerned about security. Are my MoneyExchange transactions secure? How?

A. Absolutely. RevolutionMoney takes the security of your transactions very seriously. We use advanced security technology to help guard against unauthorized access to your accountholder data. All MoneyExchange transaction information is transmitted with a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) connection via the Internet. SSL is a protocol for transmitting sensitive information over the Internet using an asymmetric cryptographic system that uses two keys a public key that is used to encrypt the data and a private key known only to the recipient to read the encrypted message. SSL encrypts your personal information before it leaves your computer, ensuring no one else can read it.

In addition, we provide protection against unauthorized use of your account by requesting a personal identification number (PIN) before authorizing any transfer of money, thus ensuring an extra layer of security. We use the PIN to generate a 128 bit key that is used to encrypt the message with state of the art encryption algorithm. Once the message is encrypted, your PIN is no longer necessary and thus not stored or transmitted. And on top of that, the whole process is secured via a multi-factor authentication process.

Q. I must provide Revolution Money with my personal bank account information in order to fund my MoneyExchange account. Is storing my bank account information on the MoneyExchange site secure?

A. Yes. Personal information is stored in encrypted form.

Q. How else does MoneyExchange assure me about its level of security?

A. Our number one priority at Revolution Money is to maintain a high level of security, as we know protecting your financial information is a primary concern when registering with our service.

You might wonder why we ask for certain pieces of information that you may be nervous to share, such as your Social Security Number. We would not ask for any information that was not necessary to enable the security we promise to you. Also, to help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.

With identity theft on the rise, we use your Social Security Number to confirm your identity by cross referencing it against other personal data you provide. This way, if someone were to get a hold of your Social Security Number, a MoneyExchange account could not be set up in your name without knowing your other personal information. So, sometimes it may seem as if you have to share more information about yourself, but in the end it actually protects your financial information to an even greater degree.

Finally, we have set limits on adding, sending, and receiving, money to or from your account to help guard against fraud. It's not that we're trying to control your spending behavior. We came up with the idea of MoneyExchange because we wanted to make it easier for you to exchange money with others, not to impose limits. But we also have to be concerned about fraud, so we have set up limits on how much money can move between accounts each day to limit the risk that there is any fraudulent behavior. Again, protecting your money is our utmost priority.

Q. Do you have a privacy policy?

A. Yes, we are committed to protecting our consumers' privacy and security. Please review the Privacy Policy Notice to understand how personal information is collected, used, and protected.

A. The Accountholder Agreement is the contract outlining the terms regarding your use of the MoneyExchange acount that has been established for you by First Bank & Trust, Brookings SD (Member FDIC). Click here to review the Accountholder Agreement.

IV. Add Money

Q. What does it mean to "Add Money"?

A. Add money lets you load funds into your MoneyExchange account from your existing personal bank account. You can start receiving funds from other MoneyExchange accountholders and requesting funds of others immediately upon registration, but to be able to send money after establishing your MoneyExchange account, you need to add money to it from a linked bank account.

Q. How do I add money to my MoneyExchange account?

A. You can add money to your MoneyExchange account directly from your existing personal bank account. First, designate an existing personal bank account from which you would like to add funds to your MoneyExchange account..

To designate a bank account, login to your account and then go to the Funding Source tab link under My Account. You will then be guided through the bank verification process to ensure that it is, in fact, your bank account and to help protect you against fraudulent use of your bank account. If Instant Account Verification is available through your bank, when you provide us with your bank account information, we will verify your authority and access to the account you identify by using the Account Verification Services, which is offered in connection with Yodlee, Inc. and you will be able to begin the process of Adding Money right away.  As part of the Standard Verification process, we will make two small deposits to your bank account. You should wait 2-3 business days for the deposits to appear in your bank account. Then the next time you log into your MoneyExchange account, we will ask you to enter the exact amount of those deposits. Please note that you have not completed adding a bank account to fund your MoneyExchange account payments until you verify the amount of the deposits.

Once the bank verification process has been completed, you can add money to your account via an ACH transaction (see next Question and Answer for an explanation of an ACH transaction) whenever you would like by going to the Add Money tab.

Q. What is ACH?

A. ACH stands for Automated Clearing House. It is the electronic transfer system used to transmit funds such as direct deposits, tax payments, and other monetary transactions from one account to another. Clearing is provided electronically rather than through the physical movement of checks or cash. The ACH network is an electronic processing and delivery system through which funds are disbursed and settled among a large number of financial institutions. The ACH network is the nation's largest electronic payments network. For example, when you make purchases on a debit card, the money is transferred via ACH.

Q. Why should I designate a bank account with my MoneyExchange account?

A. Designating a bank account to associate with your MoneyExchange account is required to add money to your MoneyExchange account or to withdraw money electronically by an ACH transfer to your linked bank account. Through an ACH transaction, you can add money to or withdraw money from your MoneyExchange account. Adding money to your account will take about 3-4 business days. Withdrawing money from your account will take about 2-3 business days.

You do not have to worry about storing your account information online; we ensure that stored information is secure.

Also, you may change or remove your designated bank account from your MoneyExchange account at any time by going to the Manage Money Source tab under My Account.

While we suggest designating a bank account for ease of use, it is not a requirement in order to begin requesting money from others or receiving money from other MoneyExchange accountholders. Should you choose not to designate a bank account however, please be aware that to withdraw money from your MoneyExchange account, you will need to request that a paper check be issued.

Q. I am a RevolutionCard holder. Can I add money to my MoneyExchange account from my RevolutionCard?

A. Currently, you cannot add money to your MoneyExchange account from your RevolutionCard. If this is a feature that you would like to see in the future, please let us know by clicking here. We welcome your feedback and ideas.

Q. What about other ways to add money?

A. MoneyExchange wants to know what features you would like. If there are other ways in which you would like to add money, please email us your ideas by clicking here.

Q. Can I designate more than one bank account?

A. Currently, you may only designate one bank account with your MoneyExchange account.

Q. Can I substitute designated bank accounts?

A. Yes, you can substitute designated bank accounts by going to the My Accounts / Funding Source page. This will require the same verification process previously described.

Q. Is there a fee associated with adding money?

A. MoneyExchange does not charge you a fee to add money to your MoneyExchange account. You should check with your bank to determine whether your bank will charge you a fee for transferring money from your designated bank account to your MoneyExchange account via the ACH network.

Q. Are there any limits on the amount of money I can add to my account?

A. You can add (transfer electronically from your linked bank account to your MoneyExchange account) up to $1,000 per day, not to exceed $2,500 per calendar month, to your MoneyExchange account. We may change the limits in the future. You can add money electronically via an ACH transfer from your linked Bank account up to 30 times in a calendar month. Please note that your designated bank account from which you transfer money to your MoneyExchange account may also have a limit on how much you can withdraw daily, which may affect how much you can add to your MoneyExchange account.

Q. When I add money to my MoneyExchange account, will it be available to transfer right away?

A. When you add money to your MoneyExchange account from your designated bank account via an ACH transaction, the funds will generally be available within 3-4 business days.

Q. How do I know that my transaction is complete?

A. When your funds have been added to your account, you will receive a confirmation email from MoneyExchange confirming the transaction.

Q. I tried to Add Money to my account and was taken to an error page. Why?

A. Your aggregate account balance may not exceed $2,500 at any time. If you tried to add an amount that would cause your total account balance to exceed the allowable limit, you might have been taken to an error page for that reason. If you still have questions, please feel free to call customer service at 1-800-794-9071 between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. Eastern Time, seven days a week.

V. Send Money

Q. How do I Send Money?

A. You can send money to another MoneyExchange accountholder by clicking on the Send Money page. Then all you have to do is enter an email address of the person to whom you would like to send money or select their email address from your list of contacts and then enter an amount to be sent. You will have the opportunity to include a message as well. Please be sure to review all the information carefully on the confirmation screen before pressing the "Continue" button! You will receive a final confirmation summary receipt after the transaction has been processed.

You can also send money to people who have not yet registered for a MoneyExchange account by going through the same send money process. Once you have sent the funds, the intended recipient will be sent an email notification and invitation to register for the service within 30 days. Upon registration the recipient will be able to collect the funds that had been sent.

Q. Is there a fee associated with Send Money?

A. No, it is free to send money online between MoneyExchange accountholders.

Q. Are there any limits on the amount of money I can send?

A. Yes, you can send up to $1000 per day, not to exceed $2500 per calendar month. These limits are there as a fraud protection measure. We may change the daily limit in the future.

Q. Why are there limits on Send Money?

A. We impose a limit on sending money as a fraud protection measure.

Q. How long does it take to Send Money to another MoneyExchange accountholder?

Q. Will I be notified when the recipient accepts funds? What if the person I send money to does not accept funds?

A. When you send funds, the recipient has the opportunity to either accept, cancel, or propose a new amount. You will receive an email notification of whichever action the recipient takes. If the recipient accepts the funds, you will see the amount deducted from your MoneyExchange account. If the recipient cancels the funds, you will receive an email advising you of the cancellation and the funds will be available in your MoneyExchange account. The recipient also has the option to propose a new amount back to you, the sender. You can then accept or cancel the proposal, or again, propose a new amount to the recipient. The funds will not be paid to the recipient or released back to your MoneyExchange account until this negotiation is completed. There is no limit as to how many times the sender and receiver can propose new amounts. When an agreement has been reached on the amount, both parties will receive a confirmation.

Q. I tried to send a payment to someone but was taken to an error page instead. Why?

A. You might have been taken to an error page if the amount you were trying to send was an amount that would cause the other party to exceed the allowable receive money or account balance limit. You might try contacting the other party directly. You will receive a confirmation email and a notification of the cancelled transaction will be sent to the original recipient of the payment as well.

VII. Request Money

Q. What is Request Money?

A. Request Money is a feature that allows you to initiate a request for payment from another person. For example, if someone owes you money, go to Request Money tab and enter the person's email address, the amount he/she owes you, as well as a message if you'd like. An email will be sent to the person with your request for the money. If the person is a registered MoneyExchange accountholder and the request is accepted, funds will be sent to you.

Q. How do I Request Money?

A. To request money from someone, go to the Request Money page. You will enter the email address of the person from whom you are requesting money, an amount, a subject that will be used in the email, and a message if you so choose. An email request will then be sent to the person from whom you are requesting funds.

If the person is a MoneyExchange accountholder, he/she will either "accept" the money request, cancel it, or propose a new amount. If the person is not a MoneyExchange acountholder, a request will not be sent and you will receive an error message.

Q. Is there a fee associated with Request Money?

A. No, there is no fee to receive money in your MoneyExchange account from another MoneyExchange accountholder.

Q. Are there any limits on the amount of money I can request?

Q. How long does it take to Request Money?

A. Once you have entered the correct information to Request Money, a notification will be sent immediately to the person from whom you are requesting funds. If the recipient is registered and if the person elects to send the money, payment will be instantaneous. If the person is not a MoneyExchange member, a request will not be sent and you will receive an error message.

Q. Can I track my Requests for Money?

A. Yes, Requests for Money can be tracked under "Sent Items" on your "My Account" page.

Q. Can I cancel a request for payment?

A. Yes. If a recipient of your request has not accepted it, you can cancel the request by selecting the "cancel" button next to the transaction posted on your My Account summary page under Sent Items. Both parties involved in the transaction will receive a confirmation email of the cancellation. Please note that these transactions automatically expire after 30 days if the recipient of the request has not responded within that timeframe.
